The September Pedagogical Innovations Journal Club article is “Examining the effects of learner-learner interactions on satisfaction and learning in an online undergraduate course” published in 2017 in Computers & Education. The authors looked at the effect of student collaboration on learning and satisfaction in an online class. Students in the control group were given an assignment to work on individually. Students in the experimental group were required to work collaboratively on the same assignment. Students working collaboratively showed higher achievement and more positive perceptions of online collaboration. We will discuss the implications of this article for your teaching. You do not have to read the article to benefit from attending the journal club.
