As one of the assistant directors at the Center for Educational Innovation, Kate shares responsibility for ensuring high quality initiatives, services, and programming that support the University's teaching community. In partnership with both academic and central support units, she collaborates on the design and facilitation of workshops, faculty learning communities, and teaching-related events. Kate began at the Center in 1997 as an instructor and consultant. She has co-designed and taught online and blended graduate courses in the International TA Program, co-created an innovative faculty development program for Internationalizing Teaching and Learning, and co-developed teamwork.umn.edu, a self-guided resource to promote student success on course-based projects. Kate has an MA in TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language), a BA in Speech Communications, and certification in both project management and administration of the Intercultural Development Inventory. She has lived and worked abroad in Spain and India.
Kate is the liaison to College of Education and Human Development.
