Whether you are new to teaching at the University of Minnesota or you have years of experience, CEI works with you to try something new, address instructional challenges, or build on your successes.
We can provide support on a single course or an entire curriculum, whether that course is face to face, online or hybrid.
New to the University?
We provide on-going support to new full-time instructors and pre-tenure faculty through the following programs. Early Career is a year-long cohort program focused on teaching and learning. Alternatively, you can create your own professional development pathways in research, teaching, community engagement, and other aspects of new faculty success through the New Faculty Program or National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity.
- Early Career Teaching and Learning Program
- New Faculty Program
- National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity
- Orientation resources at each campus: Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, Twin Cities
Teaching Resources and Workshops
Use our multimedia teaching resources as guides for research-based and practical instructional support that you can implement on your own. Or join UMN colleagues in a pedagogically-focused workshop that we offer centrally or bring to your department, college, or campus.
Consultations
CEI consultants can work with you individually on course redesign, teaching concerns, cross-cultural considerations, advising graduate students, or other teaching-related topics. We can plan with you how to gather, analyze, and act on student feedback for yourself or your TAs. Our research and evaluation consultants offer assistance with scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) projects on course-level innovations.
